“This is your time.” Armed with a new tagline and concept, Swiss watchmaker brand Tissot brings forth a new selection of watches for Baselworld, based around the idea of finding style in simplicity. One of the key pieces to keep an eye on is the reintroduction of the pocket watch, bringing back the quintessential gentleman’s heritage piece to the younger market.
Created with the youth of today in mind, the Tissot Lepine pocket watch from the Heritage collection is a fresh new take on an evergreen classic. From a braided leather chain dangles a sleek, contemporary aluminum case that is as practical as it is stylish.
The 41.5mm Lepine pocket watch is water resistant up to 30m, complete with quartz movement and mineral crystal window. Either worn as an accessory to complement your outfit, or discreetly slipped into your pocket, this versatile timepiece adds a touch of vintage elegance to your look.
During the Baselworld 2018 exhibition, Tissot also introduced women’s watches from the likes of the PR100 Lady Sport Chic and Bella Ora Round, as well as the covetable men’s T Race MotoGP Automatic watch.
An amalgamation of contrasts – this is what the Tissot PR100 Lady Sport Chic embodies. Sporty yet feminine, bold yet romantic, modern yet elegant… At first glance, the mother-of-pearl dial burst into life with dazzling index diamonds, melding effortlessly with rose gold PVD and satin surfaces. The 36mm case is larger than its predecessors, perfect for the self-assured urban woman who desires independence and individuality.
On the other hand, the Tissot Bella Ora Round remains faithful to the original timepiece, but with added details, such as the ever-so-slightly bigger and rounder 38mm case, with Roman numerals and indices decorating the simple white dial. With two interchangeable leather straps, fashionable ladies now have a watch that matches both mood and occasion, allowing them to make a subtle statement however they choose. The PVD rose-gold execution, together with the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, makes the Bella Ora Round a timeless piece that can be worn for many years to come.
Created to capture the swift, nimble elements of MotoGP bikes, the Tissot T Race MotoGP Automatic lives up to its name, offering only 3,333 pieces worldwide. Majestic in rose gold and black PVD, the transparent case back in inspired by the shape of a motorcycle wheel, revealing an impressive close-up view of the oscillating automatic movement. Based on the frame and parts of motorbikes, the watch’s structure carries noteworthy details such a brake-disc bezel, tyre tread marks, and fiberglass protective ring. Of course, the T Race MotoGP Automatic isn’t just a looker; it also comes with heavy-duty features like scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, 316L stainless steel case and 100m water resistance. But what makes it worthy as a true collector’s item for motorbike fans is its novelty box, shaped to look like helmet.
[Pre-Basel] Exquisite luxury, personified
For the man who desires nothing but the best, Tissot recommends three unique timepieces that bring together innovative features with impeccable details.
Tissot Chemin des Tourelles Collection
Named after the street in Le Locle, Switzerland, where the Tissot workshop was established in 1907 (and still remains in present day), the Chemin des Tourelles pays tribute to the brand’s history and traditions. The collection comes in a variety of different finishes, including polished and brushed, translating Tissot’s extensive know-how in watchmaking into its many selections. Three-hand, chronograph and GMT options will have you spoilt for choice; with either clous de Paris, Roman indices or sunray dials adorning the face. Available in two sizes: 42mm for men and 32mm for women, take your pick from bicolour or rose gold PVD coatings, as well as luxurious leather or solid stainless-steel bracelets.
Tissot Seastar 1000
Dive into a design that seamlessly marries style and performance. Created for divers and watersport lovers, the Seastar 1000 offers 80 hours of power reserve, never faltering even under pressure up to 30 bar (1000ft)! Diver-friendly details like scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, screw-down crown and caseback, anti-clockwise ceramic rotating bezel, luminescent second hand and 20-minute marker add to the performance factor of the watch. Available in either a rubber strap or steel bracelet, the gradient dark blue dial stands out from the crowd, yet reminds one of the undulating, welcoming movements of the sea.
Tissot T Race MotoGP Quartz
The essence of masculinity, together with the thrill of the unknown, are encapsulated in the limited-edition T Race MotoGP, with only 8,888 pieces available throughout the world. Created based on the strong yet streamlined structure of the MotoGP, the dial features a layout akin to that of the motorbike’s dashboard, accented with striking hints of red, adding a sporty touch to the rose gold and black PVD. Even the rubber bracelet stays true to the theme, with small holes dotting the side, just like the material of racers’ suits that features small holes in the leather. The watch proudly carries MotoGP’s stamp of approval, with its official logo silk-printed on the glass caseback.
